Environmental reporting - meet your reporting obligation with the help of Interzero
Environmental reporting - meet your reporting obligation with the help of Interzero
The cyclical drawing up of environmental reports and statements is just one of the many time-consuming duties that entrepreneurs have. To avoid stress, errors and irregularities, it is worth entrusting this duty to the qualified experts at Interzero.
Who is required to submit environmental reports?
In connection with their operations, many entrepreneurs have to fulfil environmental reporting obligations. These reporting obligations apply not only to large entities, but also to micro-entrepreneurs and sole traders. Despite this, many companies are still unaware of the need for environmental reporting and therefore fail to fulfil their statutory obligations.
Entrepreneur, if you are engaged in an activity that results in:
- you introduce gases and/or dust into the air (have company cars, own heating in the form of a boiler, operate air conditioning, etc.),
- you generate waste (other than municipal waste),
- you place packaged products on the domestic market,
- you place electrical and electronic equipment on the domestic market,
- you bring vehicles into the country, and therefore batteries, accumulators, tyres, oils and lubricants,
- you provide your customers with plastic shopping bags,
- you pack meals and drinks in packaging made of plastic,
then you are probably covered by the obligation to submit at least one of the environmental reports.
Entrust the preparation of your environmental reports to Interzero's experts!
Did you know that you can delegate your reporting responsibilities to Interzero's environmental experts? As part of our activities, we comprehensively take over tedious and time-consuming tasks from entrepreneurs related to the collection of data, the preparation of environmental reports and statements and their submission within the statutory deadline.
As an organisation with over 30 years' experience in the industry, we can guarantee full professionalism and the highest quality of services provided. If you are struggling to identify your reporting obligations, arrange a consultation with an Interzero expert or have us carry out an audit. The audit will verify the responsibilities you should be carrying out in relation to your business.
What environmental reports do we carry out for our clients?
We prepare the following environmental reports for our clients:
- reports on waste generated and waste management,
- environmental reporting
- reports to the National Balancing and Emissions Management Centre (KOBIZE),
- Volatile organic compound (VOC) balances,
- reports on HAPs and FGCs (BDS),
- statements on the use of water services,
- reports on products, packaging and the management of their waste.
Depending on your company's needs, reporting and reporting services can be complemented by additional activities, e.g. waste management, environmental consulting, taking over other environmental responsibilities of your company or providing products and tools for waste management in your company.
Why pass on environmental reporting to Interzero?
By entrusting your environmental reporting responsibilities to Interzero's specialists, you are guaranteed:
- reliable reports and statements,
- submission of the complete set of documents within the required deadlines,
- 100% to fulfil the reporting obligations imposed on your company by law,
- saving you and your employees time,
- to avoid penalties for non-performance or unreliable performance of reporting obligations.
To use our services, write to us using the contact form below or to the e-mail address provided. In response, you will receive the best offer for your company, in which we guarantee to take over your bureaucratic duties and free you from having to comply with numerous statutory deadlines.
Check that you are submitting your environmental reports on time!
Failure to submit environmental reports on time can have unpleasant consequences for your company. Check the deadlines by which you should meet your obligations!
The statutory deadline for submitting KOBiZE reports is 28 or 29 February. The report for the previous year must be submitted by this deadline (i.e. by 28 February 2024 for the entire year 2023, etc.). The process of preparing and submitting the KOBiZE report is quite complicated, so it is advisable to use the support of Interzero experts to take over your company's reporting obligations.
Waste reports to the BDO shall be submitted by the deadline of by 15 March each year for the previous year.
Reports on the use of the environment must be submitted once a year, by the statutory deadline of 31 March. A correctly prepared report should include information and data on the extent of the use of the environment and the amount of fees payable in this respect. The preparation of the report and the calculation of the environmental fee are time-consuming and cause many difficulties for entrepreneurs, which is why it is worth commissioning them to a specialised entity such as Interzero.
The annual balance sheet for VOCs, or Volatile Organic Compounds, must be submitted by 28 February and, in leap years, by 29 February.
The deadline for submitting EMS and F-GAS reports is 28 February each year for the previous year, and 29 February in leap years. Reports must be submitted via the electronic form on the Reporting Database (BDS), using your company's individual account. As part of its environmental consultancy and outsourcing services, Interzero offers support in both the registration of the entity and the preparation and timely submission of EMS and FGC reports,
Water use declarations must be submitted quarterly, within 30 days of the day falling at the end of each calendar quarter.
- for Q2 of the year - by 30 April,
- for Q2 of the year - by 30 July,
- for Q3 of the year - by 30 October,
- for Q4 of the year - by 30 January of the following year.
The type of declaration to be submitted depends on the type of water service being used. Interzero's environmental consultants can help you choose the right form and submit your declaration on time.
The annual report on products, packaging and their waste management is submitted by 15 March of the current year for the previous year. The report can only be submitted electronically using an individual account in the BDO system. Our environmental advisors will help you with registration with BDO, and will then prepare and submit the annual product and packaging report on behalf of your company.

Sustainable business management
Based on our vision of 'zero waste solutions - zero waste solutions' and guided by our sustainability strategy, we are developing new comprehensive concepts for a circular economy. Together with our customers, employees and partners, we are working on solutions that help protect the climate and save resources. Our aim is to be a learning company.
2020: Interview Prof. Günther Bachmann i Markus Müller-Drexel
Climate protection is more important than ever. What contribution can the circular economy make? And how can we make its impact more pervasive? These topics are discussed by Prof. Günther Bachmann, sustainability expert, and Markus Müller-Drexel, Managing Director of Interzero Dienstleistungs GmbH. Listen to the recording in German:
Interzero sustainability strategy
zero waste - no waste
Here you can see our current action plan aligned with the sustainability strategy:
Sustainable development action plan
without wastingideas
without wasting resources
zero waste solutions
Innovation is the driving force behind successful transformation processes. Counting the risk of failure, we test every new idea that brings us closer to a circular economy. This is the only way we can make decisive changes to the linear economy.
We support our clients in their sustainability efforts and in introducing these issues into their non-financial reporting, using the potential of digitalisation of services.
We are extending the life of the product, tapping new markets and expanding business models - by implementing these mechanisms we have helped to increase profits by at least 20 per cent.
To ensure a more efficient use of resources along the production-retail line, we are developing new solutions to design packaging better suited to recycling.
We believe that the future use of resources must be based on the principle of 'zero waste - no waste'. This is why we are working on new solutions for closing the raw material cycle every day.
In order to rid the planet of plastic waste in the future, we are constantly developing new upcycling solutions for plastics. We also focus on improving the quality and quantity of the secondary raw materials we produce and offer to manufacturers.
If global warming is to stay below the 2°C limit, the link between global resource consumption and economic growth must be broken. Hence our drive to create solutions for a circular economy and our intention to generate savings of at least 5 million tonnes of resources and 800,000 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) per year.
In order to achieve a significant reduction in environmental impact, particularly in urban areas, we take an integrated approach to preventing waste and achieving a significant increase in recycling rates.
Our employees and their capabilities lie at the heart of our expert position as an environmental services provider. In order to make sure that they perform their work for customers to the highest standard every day, we need to ensure their health, safety, motivation and professional development.
We want to promote the physical and mental health of our employees and achieve sick leave and employee turnover statistics significantly lower than those typical of the industry. Therefore, we provide a safe, value-oriented and innovative working environment that supports personal development.
We want to provide opportunities for involvement to absolutely all employees, regardless of their position within the company and regardless of their age, gender, background, religion or social status. We therefore ensure that opportunities are equal for all (potential) employees within our company.
In order to develop a comprehensive closed-loop economy, we need to share our experience and knowledge - not only with our customers, but also with representatives of various industries and society as a whole. This is the only way to raise environmental awareness and generate the economic benefits of effective closed-loop management.
We believe that it is our duty to promote sustainable lifestyles and consumption patterns. In this context, we act as an intermediary to ensure that knowledge about the circular economy reaches the education sector, politics, business and civil society.
We want to develop and disseminate (internationally) standards and solutions for a circular economy suitable for each industry. To this end, we work closely with our partners, stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
At the same time, we give our employees the creative space to participate in or co-create solutions for a circular economy themselves.
without wasting talent
without wasting knowledge
We are taking concrete steps to implement our climate strategy
50% fewer emissions at our sites by 2025
Our services help customers reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save resources. But our own operations also contribute to CO2 emissions. Our aim, therefore, is to reduce emissions at our own locations and, by doing so, contribute to the target set at the 2015 UN Climate Conference, namely to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius. To this end, we design our internal processes and operations to be as resource-neutral and efficient as possible. We have used calculations of our carbon footprint to formulate a climate strategy and specific targets:
- 50% emission reductions at each site (Scope 1 and 2) by 2025
- Continuously identify opportunities for optimisation in logistics and seek to reduce logistics-related emissions
- Annual savings of at least 5.5 million tonnes of resources and 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent from the services we provide
Educational campaigns
Are you marketing packaged products or packaging in the domestic market? You have a duty to conduct public education campaigns
The obligation to conduct public education campaigns is one of the legal requirements for those introducing packaging and packaged products (Packaging and Packaging Waste Management Act of 13 June 2013).
An educational campaign is defined as any activity aimed at:
- raising the public's environmental awareness;
- on the correct handling of packaging waste;
- raising awareness of the impact of packaging waste on the environment and human health;
- informing on available return, collection, recovery and recycling systems for product packaging.
Public education campaigns specifically target entrepreneurs who market products covered by the SUP (Single-Use Plastics) Directive - implemented into Polish regulations by the Act of 11 May 2001 on the obligations of entrepreneurs with regard to the management of certain waste and on a product fee (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1903 and of 2023, item 877)). According to the provisions, an additional educational obligation applies to single-use products containing plastic, such as:
- wet wipes
- balloons
- lightweight plastic shopping bags
- sanitary towels, tampons and tampon applicators
Educational activities should include information on:
- availability of reusable product alternatives, reuse systems and best practices for sound waste management,
- the impact of littering and inadequate waste disposal on the environment, in particular the marine environment,
- the impact of inappropriate waste disposal methods on sewer networks.
How do we meet our obligation to conduct public education campaigns?
1. through NFOŚiGW - by transferring an amount of at least 2% of the net value of the packaging placed on the market in the previous calendar year directly to the designated account of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).
2. cooperating with a packaging recovery organisation - This solution can be used by any entity that places packaged goods on the domestic market, regardless of how it accounts for the product fee.
We'll help you comply with the law and still make money from it
A clever solution that turns formal requirements into real profit for your company. Interzero helps companies to implement events and marketing campaigns, combining environmental responsibilities with the communication needs of the company.
- We argue that environmental education does not have to be boring and clichéd.
- We prove that it does not have to be an unnecessary, merely 'formal' expense.
- We make environmental education a strength and a competitive advantage for your company.
- It influences the favourable image of your business - modern, responsible, trustworthy.
That is why, as part of our environmental education campaign, we offer:
- assurance that the statutory obligation to conduct public education campaigns is properly met and accounted for;
- implementation of additional dedicated educational actions;
- Tailor-made ideas - the educational projects proposed by Interzero offer the opportunity to meet statutory obligations and, through the scale and form of the client's presence, corporate social responsibility objectives;
- annual report on the implementation of public education campaigns.

Check out our contribution to the circular economy
The circular economy is growing rapidly. More and more companies are recognising the opportunities for sustainable transformation and are boldly moving towards the future. These companies only gain, as avoiding waste, reusing and recycling not only reduces the burden on the planet, but also opens up new horizons in value creation.
Using our dedicated sustainability magazine, "Sustainability Magazine", we would like to present how companies and the environment benefit from innovative solutions related to the circular economy. We also want to highlight the role Interzero is already playing in shaping this economy together with our customers and partners. With this magazine, we aim to inspire others to take action on sustainability and realise the potential of the closed loop economy.
One World. Zero Waste. Let's #MoveTheDate!
Become part of our movement and reduce your ecological footprint. Because climate protection is a team sport! With us, you will influence the sustainability of your business, increase your long-term profit opportunities and improve your reputation.
Research by the Global Footprint Network shows that our recycling efforts move Environmental Debt Day forward by 7 minutes and 16 seconds worldwide.
Environmental Debt Day, also known as "Overshoot Day", is the symbolic date in the year when humanity has used more natural resources than the Earth can renew. From this point until the end of the year, we are operating on ecological 'credit', using more resources than our ecosystem can regenerate. This is an alarming indicator of overexploitation and the pressure we are putting on the planet.
Together with customers and partners, we can influence global Debt for Earth Day. Recycling and reusing materials protect the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving biodiversity.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here you will find answers to the most popular questions.
The product fee is an 'environmental' obligation for entrepreneurs who manufacture, place packaged products, post-consumer products, batteries and accumulators on the domestic market. The product fee is the sum of charges for recovery not performed and for recycling not performed.
Is your company obliged to pay product levy? Find out if you can avoid the product fee by completing a short 3-minute questionnaire - HERE.
It is understood that packaging waste is exported from the national territory to a non-EU country for recycling.
Act of 13 June 2013 on packaging and packaging waste management (Journal of Laws 2013, item 888, as amended).
Act of 24 April 2009 on batteries and accumulators (Journal of Laws 2009 No. 79 item 666 as amended).
Act of 11 May 2001 on the obligations of entrepreneurs with respect to the management of certain waste and on the product fee (Dz. U. 2001 No. 63 item 639, as amended).
The obligation to conduct public education campaigns applies to all entrepreneurs who place packaged products on the market in Poland. Pursuant to Article 19 of the Act of 13 June 2013, in addition to the obligation to recycle packaging waste, each entrepreneur is also obliged to conduct public education campaigns on environmental protection, or, if this is not possible, to allocate 2% of the net value of the packaging purchased for this purpose.
It is also possible to delegate this duty to a specialised entity such as Interzero.
DPR - means a document confirming the recycling of packaging waste, including the weight of the waste and how it was recycled.
EDPR - means a document certifying the export of packaging waste or the intra-Community supply of packaging waste for recycling, as appropriate, including the weight of such waste.
This is understood as the export of packaging waste from the national territory to another European Union Member State for recycling.
Documents are issued at the request of the producer of packaging products, packaging recovery organisations or business self-regulatory organisations by the entrepreneur: exporting packaging waste and making intra-Community deliveries of packaging waste.

Zero Waste IT
This is the preparation of used devices for reuse. In addition to cleaning the equipment and repairing or replacing parts, full anonymisation is also performed, meaning that Interzero removes all traces of data on these devices. New software can also be installed.
Electrical and electronic equipment often has a short lifespan. In Poland, it is forbidden to dispose of waste equipment in municipal waste bins due to the obligation to carry out separate waste collection. However, even used equipment can be fully functional and is too valuable to end up in the trash. We are in the business of certified and safe refurbishment of equipment, turning it into a resalable asset. Please note that electronic equipment quickly loses value, so it is worth considering the decision to sell in order to maximise the recovered value.
We buy all kinds of electronics, e.g. monitors, desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, servers and batteries, network devices and consumer electronics. We are happy to help with the disposal, including other devices. Contact us for further information - zerowasteit@interzero.pl.
In order to prepare a quote, we need information about quantity, type, manufacturer, model name, specifications, age, SSD (for laptops), condition, defects, power supply you have. Do not hesitate to contact us and request a quotation form!
The following minimum quantities apply:
- Computers: 50 pcs.
- Laptops: 25 units.
- Monitors (19 inches and above): 70 pcs.
We collect tablets, phones, consumer electronics and Apple products in smaller quantities - please ask for details.
Certificate resources SAVED - is a document developed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT and provided to our partners confirming the savings of primary resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The values are certified by the Fraunhofer Institute and can therefore be displayed in the sustainability report.
Made4Loop
Looping is the use of reusable food packaging, which consumers borrow for a fee and then return in a deposit system. In this way, the packaging remains in a closed loop.
The Made4Loop service is Looping reusable cups and containers in a model where Interzero provides support at every stage of the process. Our solution is bespoke and tailored to businesses of all sizes. We will tailor the stages of the project to the needs of your business.
If you run a café, food outlet or sell drinks in disposable takeaway cups from 1 January 2024, you must impose additional charges on your customers who order drinks from you in disposable cups. The reason for these changes is the enactment of the SUP (Single Use Plastics) Act, which is the transposition of EU Directive 2019/904. From 1 July 2024, businesses selling drinks in disposable cups will have to provide their customers with a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
ZAccording to the interpretation of the Ministry of Finance, the charge may be included in the product price and does not have to be distinguished on the receipt.
Only single-use plastic packaging is charged.
The charge for a disposable cup or packet shall be borne by final consumer.
No, reusable packaging is not subject to the SUP Act.
Made4Loop - deposit system for reusable packaging
Made4Loop - deposit system for reusable packaging
From 1 July 2024, traders selling drinks in disposable cups will have to provide their customers with a alternative packaging that will be more environmentally friendly and will help reduce the amount of plastic waste. This obligation stems from the Polish SUP Act, which transposes the EU Directive 2019/904. One way to comply with the requirements of the plastic directive is to introduce a deposit system for reusable returnable packaging in your company.
Looping - Interzero's response to the obligations imposed by the SUP Directive
Looping is a unique service to help you implement sustainable, reusable and eco-friendly alternatives to disposable cups and food packaging in your business. We created it in response to legal changes to promote sustainable, circular packaging made from environmentally friendly materials.
The Made4Loop model developed by Interzero assumes use of reusable cups and packagingwhich customers rent against a deposit and then return in a deposit system. In this way, the packaging remains in a closed circuit and is reused dozens, if not hundreds of times.
We create our reusable packaging with the specific needs of each customer and their business in mind and with the utmost concern for the environment. Together with our partners, we conduct research into the raw materials we use in order to continually improve our product and offer top-quality plastics that meet the exacting expectations of every customer.
State-of-the-art technology underpins the Made4Loop service
In order to meet the needs and expectations of our customers, we are constantly researching ways to offer even more sustainable packaging and logistics services. We are currently developing a solution that enables us to use artificial intelligence (AI) to optimise logistics, which is an integral part of the Made4Loop service. It will enable us to successively reduce the carbon footprint of our operations, which will certainly translate into increasingly better results for our customers in the environmental area of ESG reporting.
We have also been refining the technology for the production of recycled plastics for many years and have acquired the know-how to enable us to carry out further development work. As a result of the unique process Recycled-Resource produces types of 2 materials: Recythen® and Procyclen®. with parameters ideally suited to our customers' needs. We have also developed a special sorting process for plastics waste, whereby we prepare the waste stream for chemical recycling. This makes it possible to recover and reuse raw materials that previously went to thermal recycling. Thanks to investments in new facilities, we will soon be increasing the scale of plastics recovered by chemical recycling.
Benefits of implementing Made4Loop in your business
Our Made4Loop model is not only a way of bringing your company and its subsidiaries into compliance with new regulatory requirements. The solution created by Interzero provides a multitude of additional benefits for your company, its customers and the environment.
With the Made4Loop service you will provide your company with:
- the implementation of an efficient depository system adapted to the processes operating within the company and its branches,

- expert support at every stage of system development, implementation and operation,
- reducing the amount of waste generated and reducing waste management costs,

A Made4Loop system tailored to your specific business
Made4Loop is a comprehensive service aimed at all businesses (including cafes, restaurants, food outlets and petrol stations) that need to comply with their obligations under the SUP Act. Our solution is tailor-made the needs of your company and tailored to businesses of all sizes.
As part of the Made4Loop service, we design both single packaging (e.g. cups for take-away drinks) and entire personalised sets consisting of several or more types of packaging with different parameters. Each pack and set is made from materials that meet the customer's expectations and are adapted to the specific characteristics of the products packed in them.
The Made4Loop service consists of six stages:
- Analysis of company needs and potential.
- Support in developing a business model based on the conclusions of the analysis.
- Provision of packaging and implementation of a deposit system.
- Service (logistics, cleaning, disinfection).
- Settlement of deposits and other costs.
- Assumption of obligation to implement educational campaigns.
Each of these stages can also be a separate service, which we will tailor to the solutions already in place in your company.

Bail system in Poland - frequently asked questions
According to the provisions of the Deposit Act, the following packages will be deposited in Poland:
- single-use plastic beverage bottles up to 3l,
- reusable glass beverage bottles of up to 1.5 litres,
- metal beverage containers of up to 1 litre.
The maximum amount of the bail bond is set by the Bail Act at £2.
The exact amount of the deposit for packaging covered by the deposit system will be determined by a regulation issued under the delegation contained in the Deposit Act.
If you run a retail or wholesale unit that offers drinks in deposit packaging, you are required to join a minimum deposit scheme for the collection of deposits. If the retail area of that unit is over 200m2, you must also join the deposit system for the return of the deposit and the collection of packaging and packaging waste covered by the deposit.
If you are a producer (introducer) of beverages in deposit packaging, you are not legally obliged to join a deposit system. However, you have to take into account the fact that you will then not fulfil the obligation to ensure the collection level through the deposit system and will have to calculate and pay the product fee yourself.
Each party introducing beverages in pre-packaged containers is obliged to achieve the following levels of separate collection of packaging:
- single-use plastic beverage bottles up to 3l:
- 77% in 2025,
- 81% in 2026,
- 84% in 2027,
- 87% in 2028,
- 90% 2 2029,
- reusable glass beverage bottles of up to 1.5 litres:
- 77% in 2025,
- 81% in 2026,
- 84% in 2027,
- 87% in 2028,
- 90% 2 2029,
- metal beverage containers with a capacity of up to 1 litre:
- 77% in 2025,
- 81% in 2026,
- 84% in 2027,
- 87% in 2028,
- 90% 2 2029.
Introducers of packaging covered by a deposit, who have joined the deposit system and have not achieved the minimum collection levels, are obliged to pay a product fee. The maximum rate of the product fee for packaging is PLN 25 per 1 kg. This fee is paid jointly and severally with the representing entity on a 50:50 basis.
Introducers who have not joined the deposit scheme must calculate and pay the entire product fee due themselves.
