The Interzero Environmental Conference entitled “Waste worth its weight in gold: towards a deposit system” will be held on September 13-15 this year. Ticket sales continue!

During the event we will have the opportunity to talk, among others: about:

The conference will be attended by specialists from the environmental protection industry, as well as people associated with ecology and sustainable development.

The speakers include Interzero experts: Anna Grom – President of the Management Board, Paweł Lesiak and Monika Grom – Vice-Presidents of the Management Board, Paweł Sosnowski – Representative of the Management Board for Environmental Regulations, Przemysław Kuna – Managing Director, Edyta Mantorska – Head of the Environmental Education Team and Robert Kowal – Sales Development Coordinator.

Interzero for the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw

Although urban areas constitute less than 3% of the Earth’s surface, they are inhabited by over half of the planet’s population. Despite the dominance of concrete, crowds and street traffic, cities and towns are still considered ecosystems whose condition significantly affects the quality of our lives. If properly cared for, they help purify the air and water and provide opportunities for fun and relaxation.

From 2022 Interzero, as part of the Re:Generacja – together for ecosystems project, takes care of the ecosystem of the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. Thanks to our cooperation with UNEP/GRID Warsaw, we managed to strengthen the shorelines of the Lower South and North Ponds and carry out work with historic trees. Additionally, we have placed bird feeders in the park to feed them in winter. This year, it is planned to plant trees and shrubs in the garden and to restore the plantings on the slopes around Staw Południowy Górny, along with protecting the greenery against possible damage.

On June 29, we met with UNEP/GRID Warsaw, the Royal Łazienki Museum and Re:Generacja – together for ecosystems. During this visit, we had the opportunity to discuss the needs of the Łazienki Królewskie ecosystem, especially with a view to the future, and to summarize current activities and cooperation.

Interzero at SOSEXPO – June 29, 2023, Warsaw

On June 29, 2023 , SOSEXPO – the 11th International Waste Management Forum – was held at the Novotel hotel in Warsaw. Paweł Lesiak , Vice-President of the Management Board of Interzero, and Edyta Mantorska , Head of the Ecological Education Team, spoke on behalf of Interzero. The event was attended by politicians, representatives of local governments and leading experts in the waste management industry. The event program included discussion panels, expert speeches and presentations on legislation and economic trends, investments and circular economy.

Paweł Lesiak took part in the discussion panel “On the way to circular economy – municipalities in the face of growing EU requirements. What changes need to be implemented today and what changes are yet to come?. The issues raised during the debate included:

• How to improve waste management at the local government level to avoid penalties for failing to achieve recycling levels? What should you invest in and what changes should you introduce?
• What changes and regulations at the central level do we need to improve separate collection and recycling?
• What can municipalities do to prevent waste and promote reuse? What tools are needed to reduce the waste of raw materials?

Edyta Mantorska, presenting a summary of the Interzero report from April 2023 “We are getting into trouble” , discussed Poles’ awareness of waste sorting.

Summary of Interzero’s participation in the 11th Hausmesse Kronospan Fair in Szczecinek

May 25 this year Interzero had the pleasure of taking part in the 11th edition of the Hausmesse Fair, organized by Kronospan . It is the largest in the province. West Pomeranian furniture industry fair, addressed to entities producing and transporting wood-based boards.

Interzero was represented by Paweł Lesiak , Vice-President of the Management Board, who took part in the discussion panel “Ecological Logistics” of SILVA about the importance of ecological supplies of raw materials and methods of its implementation. SILVA companies collect and process wood waste for wood-based board plants used in the furniture industry. The issue of ecological supplies is also an important topic for our company, because as Interzero, we care not only about the raw material itself, but also about the logistic aspects of its acquisition. Properly planned and optimized transport systems can minimize negative impacts on the environment. The use of multimodal transport, which combines various means of transport (road, rail, sea), allows to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce road congestion.

We would like to thank SILVA for the invitation to participate in the discussion on sustainable transport of raw materials and Kronospan for the opportunity to participate in the inspiring event.

Has become! The draft law on deposits has been adopted!

Today, i.e. June 6, 2023 The Council of Ministers approved the bill on the deposit-refund system. This means that the system will come into force in Poland from 2025.

We would like to remind you that the obligation to return empty packaging and packaging waste resulting from packaging will apply to retail units with a commercial area of more than 200 m2.

Based on our experience in the market where the deposit-refund system has been present for several years, we are ready for the challenges awaiting the market in Poland.

Why is it so important to develop pro-ecological attitudes among the youngest?

Kubuś’s Friends of Nature is a nationwide educational program that was created on the initiative of the Maspex group for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals related to the protection of the natural environment and climate through ecological education. It is addressed to pre-school children and students of early childhood education (grades 1-3 of primary school). For 15 years, thanks to practical classes, interactive lessons and field games, children all over Poland have been able to learn about the principles of environmental protection free of charge and in an interesting way, as well as learn respect for plants and animals, recycling, proper nutrition and spending time actively in harmony with nature .

Interzero, as a long-term partner of the action, supports the development of pro-environmental attitudes among the youngest. In the latest publication of Kubuś’s Friends of Nature on the practical application of ecological knowledge in the field, Monika Grom, Vice-President of the Management Board and Interzero expert , explains why it is so important to develop pro-ecological attitudes in early childhood.

“Nature awakens the child’s sensitivity to the destruction of the environment, stimulates curiosity and allows them to acquire competences to act for the benefit of the planet. Only thanks to conscious education and the development of a child’s impact on the environment, he will assume responsibility for the fate of the Earth, future generations and will be ready to take action in the field of ecology. That is why environmental education in the early years of life is so important. All actions in the field of environmental protection that parents and teachers at school will take together with children will have a significant impact on the condition of the planet in the years to come.”

Over 1,200,000 children from all over Poland took part in the 15th edition of the program (2022/2023).
