Why is it so important to develop environmental attitudes in the youngest?
Winnie the Pooh Friends of Nature is a nationwide educational programme initiated by the Maspex Group for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals related to environmental and climate protection through environmental education. It is aimed at pre-school children and pupils in early childhood education (grades I-III of primary school). For the past 15 years, through practical activities, interactive lessons and outdoor games, children all over Poland have been able to learn about environmental protection in a free and interesting way, as well as to learn respect for plants and animals, recycling, proper nutrition and how to actively spend time in harmony with nature.
As a long-term partner of the campaign, Interzero supports the development of pro-environmental attitudes in the youngest children. In the latest publication of the Winnie the Pooh Friends of Nature on the practical application of ecological knowledge in the field, Vice President and Interzero expert Monika Grom explains why it is important to develop environmentally friendly attitudes from an early age.
"Nature awakens a child's sensitivity to the destruction of the environment, stimulates curiosity and allows him or her to acquire the competence to act for the planet. Only by consciously educating and developing a child's impact on the environment will the child accept responsibility for the fate of the Earth, future generations and be prepared to take action in the field of ecology. This is why environmental education is so important from an early age. Any environmental action that parents and school teachers take together with their children will have a significant impact on the condition of the planet in the years to come".
In the 15th edition of the programme (2022/2023), more than 1 200 000 children from all over Poland took part.
