The Interzero Environmental Conference with the theme 'Waste at a premium: the direction of the bail system' will now take place on 13-15 September. Ticket sales are on!

During the event we will have the opportunity to talk about, among other things:

The Conference will not be short of specialists from the environmental industry, as well as people who are connected to ecology and sustainability.

Interzero for the Royal Baths in Warsaw

Although urban areas account for less than 3% of the Earth's surface, they are home to more than half of the planet's population. Despite the dominance of concrete, crowds and traffic, cities and towns are still considered ecosystems whose condition significantly affects our quality of life. Properly cared for, they help purify air and water and provide opportunities for play and recreation.

Since 2022, Interzero has been looking after the ecosystem of Warsaw's Royal Baths as part of the Re:Generation - Together for Ecosystems project. Thanks to our cooperation with UNEP/GRID Warsaw, we were able to reinforce the shorelines of the South Lower and North Ponds and carry out work with the heritage trees. In addition, we have placed bird feeders in the park to feed the birds during the winter period. The planting of trees and shrubs in the garden and the restoration of the planting on the slopes around the South Upper Pond are planned for this year, along with the protection of the greenery from any damage.

On 29 June we met with UNEP/GRID Warsaw, the Royal Baths Museum and Re:Generation - together for ecosystems. During this visit, we had the opportunity to discuss the needs of the Royal Baths ecosystem, especially with a view to the future, and to summarise our activities and cooperation to date.

Interzero at SOSEXPO - 29 June 2023, Warsaw

On 29 June 2023, the Novotel hotel in Warsaw hosted the SOSEXPO - XI International Waste Management Forum. On behalf of Interzero were Pawel Lesiak, Executive Vice President of Interzero and Edyta Mantorska, Head of the Environmental Education Team. The event was attended by politicians, local government representatives and leading experts in the waste management industry. The event's programme included panel discussions and expert speeches and presentations on legislation and economic trends, investment and GOZ.

Paweł Lesiak took part in a panel discussion "On the road to GOZ - municipalities facing increasing EU requirements. Which changes need to be implemented today and which are still to come?". Issues raised in the debate included:

• How to improve waste management at the local authority level to avoid penalties for not meeting recycling levels? What should be invested in and what changes should be made?
• What changes and regulations do we need at central level to improve separate collection and recycling?
• What can municipalities do to prevent waste and promote reuse? What tools are needed to reduce the waste of raw materials?

Edyta Mantorska, presenting a summary of the April 2023 Interzero report "We are getting ourselves into trouble"., discussed Poles' awareness of waste sorting.

Summary of Interzero's participation in the 11th Kronospan Hausmesse Fair in Szczecinek

On 25 May this year, Interzero was pleased to take part in the 11th edition of Hausmesse, organised by Kronospan. This is the largest furniture trade fair in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, aimed at those involved in the production and transport of wood-based panels.

Interzero represented Pawel Lesiak, Vice President of the Management Board, who took part in the panel discussion "Green Logistics" SILVA companies on the importance of ecological supply of raw materials and how to achieve it. SILVA companies, collect and process wood waste for the wood-based panel factories used in the furniture industry. The issue of ecological supply is also an important topic for our company, because as Interzero we are concerned not only with the raw material itself, but also with the logistical aspects of its procurement. Properly planned and optimised transport systems can minimise negative environmental impacts. The use of multimodal transport, which combines different modes of transport (road, rail, sea), makes it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and road congestion.

It has happened! The bail bill has been passed!

Today, i.e. 6 June 2023. The Council of Ministers approved the draft law on the bail system. This means that the system will start to apply in Poland from 2025.

We would like to remind you that the obligation to return empty packaging and packaging waste generated from packaging will apply to retail units with a retail area of more than 200 m2.

Based on our experience in the market, where the bail system has been present for more than a dozen years, we are ready for the challenges awaiting the market in Poland.
