History - key moments

2022: Setting a target for the future and founding Interzero: The owners of the ALBA Group, to which Interseroh also belongs, are restructuring a group of companies. They are creating agile units that correspond to market requirements and individual business models. In this way, Dr. Axel Schweitzer is tackling, among other things, the Asian business and the plastics recycling business. With the introduction of the Interzero brand, he underlines the company's international vision of a "world without waste".

2021: Launch of the new Interseroh+ system - with an innovative concept that goes far beyond packaging licensing. The aim is to close the material cycle in a 'recycling alliance' with industry and trade, thereby jointly creating a closed loop economy that benefits companies as well as resource and climate protection.

2019: Point in time for the entry into force of the German Packaging Act on 1 January 2019: Following the successful launch in summer 2018 of the online packaging licensing shop Lizenzero, the Interzero Dual System (DSI) is now available to packaging distributors of all sizes with solutions tailored to their needs.

Interzero is also expanding its services internationally and is present with environmental services in AustriaSloveniaPolandCroatia, the Czech Republic and the Italy.

2018: For the eleventh consecutive year Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT has proven the positive effects of recycling valuable materials. Furthermore, as of 2018, companies can optimise the recyclability of their packaging based on a new, scientifically based method - the "Made for Recycling"- quality label created for recycling. Furthermore, in 2018, Interzero and Saubermacher AG established a joint venture SIMPLi RETURN GmbH, the first collection and recycling system for lithium-ion batteries.

2017: Online shop brandused.com operates live: this is where used, refurbished IT equipment or new, unused technical products from company sales or warehouse sales are sold to end customers to give the equipment a second life cycle.

2016: Interzero is celebrating 25 years of success. Thanks to the trust placed in us by our national and international customers, we have so far returned 15 million tonnes of used packaging to raw material cycles, thus conserving valuable primary resources.

2011: The paint containers for toom Baumarkt are the first product on the market made from procyclen, a recycled plastic created by Interzero. The material used to make the containers consisted almost 100% of plastic waste collected from various recycling systems in Germany.

2009: Recycling plastic in a closed loop: Interzero is developing 'Recycled-Resource', an award-winning method for recycling plastic.

2008: Interzero becomes part of the ALBA Group, a leader in recycling and a supplier of raw materials, thus adding its compressed know-how to the company's portfolio.

2007: The year of RTE bulk transport packaging: Interzero is developing innovative bulk transport packaging solutions for reusable transport packaging.

2006: Interzero becomes the first company in the market to receive a nationwide licence for the German 'dual system' for its recycling services. The resulting market competition was able to significantly increase the recycling rate of packaging waste.

2000: Together with Repasack, Interzero offers a unique pan-European collection and recycling system for Kraft paper sacks. The company is also committed to environmental education by initiating the award-winning 'Eco Dragon' project to collect empty printer toner cartridges in schools and nurseries.

1997: Interzero services enter the international arena with the establishment of the subsidiary EVA Erfassen und Verwerten von Altstoffen GmbH (today: Interzero Austria GmbH) as an integrated service provider in Austria. In the following years, steady expansion takes place in countries such as Slovenia, Poland, Croatia and Bosnia.

1991: This is where it all began. Initially, the company's activities focused on the recycling of packaging waste. Then Interzero began to expand its portfolio as a global provider of integrated environmental services, setting global standards for solutions aimed at waste prevention, modern sorting and innovative recycling.
