As Interzero, representing the business sector, we decided to implement a project with the Museum of Photography in Krakow "Closed circuit. Waste in photography. The project included a series of meetings that would result in the creation of photographs and texts freely referring to the topic of waste.

Since March 2016, no coal-fired power stations have been operating in Scotland. Then the Longannet power station, located north-west of Edinburgh, which had been operating since 1973, was closed. This means that after 115 years, Scotland has stopped generating electricity from burning coal.

The Made4Loop service involves the use of reusable cups and packaging, which customers rent for a deposit and then return via a deposit system. In this way, the packaging remains in a closed loop and is reused dozens, if not hundreds of times.

On September 23, the Polish finale of World Cleanup Day took place, a global clean-up campaign organized by the pro-ecological movement Let's Do It World and Planet Heroes. Interzero became a partner of the event.

According to data from the Interzero report entitled "We are getting into trouble" from April 2023, only 51% of Poles segregate waste into five fractions (bio, plastic and metal, paper, glass and mixed). Many people still do not know where to throw away, e.g. a milk carton or a store receipt.

As part of the event, we will present selected eco-devices supporting the circular economy (including: Sielaff bottle dispensers, the PEL BriteBin solar bin and the Oklin composting machine) and the Interzero Waste Platform.

On September 16, we celebrate World Cleanup Day - the biggest ecological holiday of the year. On this day, garbage collections are organized throughout Poland, and in the largest cities, events for residents are co-organized together with local authorities.

Together with the Carlsberg Group, we are creating the "1 instead of 1000" project, which raises awareness of how our everyday decisions influence the shaping of a more sustainable future.

On August 24, together with employees from the Eurocash Group, we went to Germany to look at the deposit system in practice. Together we visited stores with both bag collection systems and automatic ones. We also visited the Interzero Reclamation Center, where waste is sorted into appropriate fractions.

Last Thursday (August 17, 2023) we met with entrepreneurs for whom the obligations arising from the deposit system constitute some kind of challenge. The act will soon be presented to the President, so people affected by the new legal order must quickly prepare their businesses for the changes.
