How much is the fee for plastic bags in 2025 and when does it have to be paid? Learn the most important information about the recycling fee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><script id=\"script-row-unique-0\" data-row=\"script-row-unique-0\" type=\"text\/javascript\" class=\"vc_controls\">UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById(\"row-unique-0\"));<\/script><\/div><\/div><\/div><div data-parent=\"true\" class=\"vc_row row-container\" id=\"row-unique-1\"><div class=\"row limit-width row-parent\"><div class=\"wpb_row row-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_column pos-top pos-center align_left column_parent col-lg-12 single-internal-gutter\"><div class=\"uncol style-light\"  ><div class=\"uncoltable\"><div class=\"uncell no-block-padding\" ><div class=\"uncont\" ><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is subject to the recycling fee?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>The recycling fee applies to all <strong>plastic shopping<\/strong> <strong>bags<\/strong> . <strong>with the exception of the so-called break-ins <\/strong>, i.e. very light bags made of material less than 15 micrometers thick, which are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>necessary for hygiene reasons,<\/li>\n<li>used as primary packaging for loose foods (as long as they prevent food waste).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means that the recycling fee is not charged, for example, for shopping bags on a roll or plastic bags used for packing fresh bread, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Entrepreneur's obligations related to the recycling fee<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>Every <strong>entrepreneur running a shop or wholesale store<\/strong> (retail or wholesale trade entity) where plastic shopping bags are offered to customers <strong>is obliged to<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>collecting a recycling fee<\/strong> from buyers (customers),<\/li>\n<li><strong>transferring the collected recycling fee<\/strong> to the appropriate bank account within the set deadlines,<\/li>\n<li><strong>keeping records<\/strong> of the number of bags purchased and issued (light, i.e. from 15 to 40 microns and others, i.e. 50 microns and more) in paper or electronic form. Owners of several sales outlets must keep separate records for each of them, <\/li>\n<li><strong>submitting an annual report<\/strong> on the number of plastic bags purchased and issued to customers (<a href=\"https:\/\/interzero.pl\/en\/blog\/bdo-annual-packaging-report-2024-the-most-important-information-about-the-report-on-products-packaging-and-waste-management\/\">so-called packaging and product reports <\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Recycling fee rate 2025 - how much is the fee for plastic bags?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>From 1 September 2019, the recycling fee rate is <strong>20 PLN for each<\/strong> plastic shopping bag, regardless of its thickness. <\/p>\n<p>The recycling fee may be included in the total purchase cost of such a bag or may be added to the price of the bag set by the seller.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Until when is the recycling fee due in 2025?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>The recycling fee is settled quarterly. It is paid by the 15th day of the month following the quarter in which the fee was collected. <\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2025 the recycling fee must be paid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>for the first quarter - until April 15, 2025,<\/li>\n<li>for the second quarter - until July 15, 2025,<\/li>\n<li>for the third quarter - until October 15, 2025,<\/li>\n<li>for the fourth quarter - until January 15, 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Do you charge a recycling fee? You are required to register with BDO! <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>Owners of shops and wholesalers obliged to collect the recycling fee are also obliged to obtain an entry in the BDO register. An application for entry must be submitted <strong>before starting commercial activity<\/strong> .
